Spring has Sprung in Dawson

Crocus bluffs from below. This is the edge of town on the way out (or in)

Went for a walk on the dyke in town today...saw our first otter!

The confluence of the Klondike and the Yukon

Pussy willows and open water. You can't tell but there are a dozen or more gulls sitting right on the edge of the open water...fishing, I guess.

The second time we saw the otter....on the way back.

where we camped this weekend

Despite the snow, there was still undeniable signs of spring's arrival. We camped up the Dempster this weekend. It was spectacular, despite the deep, mushy snow. We went as far as km 194 this time. Good times.
Note all of the animal tracks near the running water-none of those are people tracks.

there's still lot's of snow past the tombstone campground up the dempster

Up the dempster

blue sky...ain't nothin' but blue sky...

A sunset this past week. There's a lot less snow now.

A little April snow.

More Easter fun. This time after the jello eggs. Too bad it's not a better pic.

Easter Fun for adults:) There be rum in those jello eggs.

Hey Everybody! Just in case you missed the email, we are looking for housesitters for a month in July (approx). Email us! Our plan is to roadtrip down to Prince Rupert and then take our bikes over to the Queen Charlotte Islands. But we need someone to feed our cats and we figure it would save one of our friends or family the cost of a place to stay which makes a month vacation entirely more affordable. And who doesn't want to vacation here in July? We could even split it into two week increments if nobody can get a month off. We really are living the life up here, come see for yourself!

ps. I promise all of the snow will be gone by then. However; we cannot be held accountable for encounters with bear, moose, lynx, etc.

I've mentioned Dawson's impressive graveyard a few times. Thought you all might want to see some pics. I only took pics of the Catholic one yesterday though. I'll try to get more soon.

This Hello program just makes me type something for each picture.

how cool.

up the dempster

We went up the Dempster yesterday. Ever seen anything like this?

Khan's new favorite sleeping spot. I just threw this in cause he's so damn cute.

For Scott's 33rd birthday we threw him a surprise party! A week late. We had a great time as you will see by the following pictures. This pic is Scott (in case you weren't sure) holding a beer with the label that Kim made for them..."Hee Hee you're 33. Made exclusively for Scott."

Early in the evening.

Kim on the djembe and Blair on the...party favour?

After a few drinks.

the view yesterday from Crocus Bluffs. You can see that the water is starting to flood the ice in places. In fact, the ice bridge has been closed to traffic for a couple of days. People still can walk across though so long as they don't mind wet feet.
