Sourdoughs

Hey everybody, We hope you're all doing really well. I've been extremely negligent in the case of our blog and I apologize. I don't have time to do anything else now except school work! (actually that comment is just for any tutors that might be looking at our blog:) Things have been fun here. Summer is winding down-a good chunk of the tourists have left, and school starts in a week. It's been an exciting one though. I should have posted this over a week ago in honour of our officially becoming "sourdoughs". That is, we've suffered through a winter in Dawson and have been here over a year. My friend Kim just about has me convinced to go "do the sour toe". For any of you that don't know what that is, it would be well worth your time to Google it for a good laugh. We went out celebrating last night, to the local Pub, "Bombay Peggy's", where a colourful local was playing for the first time, along with some summer people. We had a wonderful time. We took along Ashland and John, who have been with us since Tuesday, when we "rescued" them off the top of the Dome from their broken down volkswagen, brought them home, and are trying to convince them that it really is not so bad to be stuck in Dawson. I think last night, after midnight, when we were out on our deck with the me on the tubano, John on the Djembe, Ashland on the Didjeridoo (doing a pretty darn good job too), Scott throat singing, and Kim harmonizing, we just about had them convinced. I'm not so sure our neighbours were convinced, but they'll forgive us. It was a wonderful evening.
It looks like there is a very good possibility that I am off to Inuvik and Fort MacPherson with my job shortly here for a couple of weeks. This is pretty exciting for me. I've learned to give shots, and will be learning to do sutures, and all sorts of cool stuff. If I do go I'll take lots of pictures. The Dempster at the beginning of September is one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen (you could check out archived pics from this time last year). Anyways, I hope you are all having a fabulous summer. We miss you all.

Sounds like all kinds of mad fun.
Tubano? [sp?]

I'm going to have all kinds of fun telling people my mom uses frostbitten toes for icecubes in her booze.
